In the 1990s, Georges Urwald studied music education and jazz instrument pedagogy, with a focus on organ and piano, at the Cologne Conservatory. He then began working as a music teacher at the high school in Echternach. At the same time, he performs, composes, and arranges for various musical projects that blend traditional Luxembourgish music with jazz (including Cojellico’s Jangen, Tonnar Urwald, De Kapitän Mullebutz a seng Séisswaassermatrousen, Duo Hemmerlé Urwald, FLOTT, Michel Clees Ensemble), regularly publishes books of Luxembourgish songs, as well as the educational workbook series De Litty for the National Library of Luxembourg. Since 2008, he has directed the Stued Theater in Grevenmacher.
