1. What is a Bequest?

  • A bequest is a testamentary provision that allows you to leave all or part of your estate to a chosen beneficiary, here the Fondation EME.
  • Types of bequests:
    • Specific bequest: a particular asset (e.g., house, sum of money, object)
    • Universal bequest: all or a major part of your estate
    • Fractional/percentage bequest: a percentage or category of assets

2. Reserved Share and Available Portion

  • If you have children, they are legally entitled to a reserved share. You cannot take this away.
