Jeannot Pirrotte

Biography

Born in Luxembourg in 1959, Jeannot Pirotte began his theoretical and practical musical education at the local music and harmony school. Over the years, he took piano and keyboard lessons, followed by intense years playing percussion and various string instruments. His passion for travel and discovery led him to develop an interest in the instruments of foreign cultures. (Djembé, Amadinda, N'Goni, Tabla, Ghatan, Kora, …) Although his curiosity for technology, functionality and craftsmanship guided his studies and determined his professional career (civil engineer), this was never an obstacle. It gradually established his aspiration and ability to produce instruments on his own. In 2018, when he came to the end of his professional career, the time he had gained offered him new opportunities to devote his daily life to many facets of music, both solo and collective. Since then, his days have been filled with concerts, dance coaching, yoga or art exhibitions, with a current focus on social music projects (Concerts for the EME Foundation; long-term projects such as Music@Parkisonlux; various projects promoting social integration and inclusion) and, since 2020, one-to-one teaching.
